An informal checkpoint along the Beargrease Marathon route, Pronto is typically a compound consisting of a hot tent as well as multiple snow couches and loungers built while waiting for teams to arrive. Erik, Adam, and whatever other homies show up keep a wood stove running all day and night in anticipation of the athletes.
The signature items of Pronto are corn dogs, hot from the stove, and ice cold Busch Lattes for the mushers. Many mushers do not have time to stop, since they may not be aware of Pronto. In those cases, if they say yes, a corn dog and/or a cold one will be chucked into their hang bag.
