Episode Transcript

[0:00:41 – 0:00:42] Adam: Learnament.
[0:00:42 – 0:00:42] Adam: Learnament.
[0:00:43 – 0:00:43] Erik: Cast it.
[0:00:43 – 0:00:44] Erik: I’m going to cast it.
[0:00:47 – 0:00:51] Adam: Why did you bring the tiny hammers and the gasoline, Eric?
[0:00:51 – 0:00:52] Adam: How do you know I don’t have them?
[0:00:53 – 0:00:55] Adam: Oh, is that what’s in that box next to your chair?
[0:00:56 – 0:01:00] Adam: It’s a large tub he’s brought into Studio B here tonight.
[0:01:00 – 0:01:04] Erik: Unwieldy box over there you’ve got.
[0:01:05 – 0:01:07] Erik: Surely there isn’t an air conditioning unit in there.
[0:01:08 – 0:01:08] Erik: Oh, no.
[0:01:09 – 0:01:10] Erik: It’s gas and small hammers.
[0:01:11 – 0:01:12] Adam: And you brought the small hammers.
[0:01:12 – 0:01:13] Adam: We thought it might go this way.
[0:01:14 – 0:01:15] Adam: My name is Terry Davenport.
[0:01:16 – 0:01:20] Adam: I’m joined here with the tiny hammers in Studio V by my dear friend Jim Sofa.
[0:01:22 – 0:01:30] Adam: We’re here on behalf, of course, of Tumble Home Sports Network for your second round coverage of the Learnament 2025.
[0:01:32 – 0:01:33] Adam: Every learn for them serves.
[0:01:34 – 0:01:36] Erik: Every lure is a miracle.
[0:01:36 – 0:01:44] Adam: We’re going to get one step closer to the final lure tonight here in Studio V. The votes have been counted.
[0:01:46 – 0:01:52] Adam: Voting ended at noon today, and we have not seen the results, have we, Jim?
[0:01:52 – 0:01:53] Erik: Not even close.
[0:01:53 – 0:01:59] Erik: I haven’t even been on anything that would expose me to any kind of a spoiler yet.
[0:02:00 – 0:02:02] Erik: It’s all going to be fresh and new.
[0:02:02 – 0:02:05] Erik: Did a quick rundown.
[0:02:06 – 0:02:07] Adam: What about that rundown?
[0:02:07 – 0:02:08] Erik: Yeah.
[0:02:09 – 0:02:13] Erik: Thank God somebody had the wherewithal to create…
[0:02:15 – 0:02:18] Erik: A physical copy of the Lurnament like we had done.
[0:02:18 – 0:02:19] Adam: Oh, yeah, baby.
[0:02:19 – 0:02:27] Adam: I went down to Joins on Friday on my lunch break, and I picked up this huge thing at Tagboard.
[0:02:27 – 0:02:28] Erik: Art Supply Center.
[0:02:28 – 0:02:28] Adam: Yeah.
[0:02:29 – 0:02:33] Adam: I was able to trade in a couple pairs of darn tough socks with holes in them for fresh darn toughs, too.
[0:02:33 – 0:02:35] Adam: They got that going on, which is a nice program.
[0:02:35 – 0:02:38] Erik: I thought you said you were going to trade in some socks for some tag board.
[0:02:38 – 0:02:41] Erik: I need more businesses like that.
[0:02:42 – 0:02:49] Adam: I’ll give you a pair of fine woolen socks, and you give me a tag board and a gallon of glitter, please.
[0:02:49 – 0:02:49] Adam: Thank you.
[0:02:50 – 0:02:50] Adam: Deal.
[0:02:51 – 0:02:53] Adam: This is our deal.
[0:02:53 – 0:02:55] Adam: Our commerce has been commenced.
[0:02:55 – 0:02:56] Erik: Yes.
[0:02:57 – 0:02:58] Erik: No trading of caches.
[0:02:58 – 0:03:00] Erik: Let’s get Visa out of the equation.
[0:03:01 – 0:03:02] Erik: It’s the trade.
[0:03:02 – 0:03:03] Erik: Let’s just trade and barter.
[0:03:04 – 0:03:05] Erik: I’ll barter with you.
[0:03:05 – 0:03:07] Erik: I’ve been to a flea market or two.
[0:03:07 – 0:03:09] Erik: I’ll barter like the best of them.
[0:03:09 – 0:03:09] Erik: Haggle.
[0:03:10 – 0:03:30] Erik: hassle hassle free zones i don’t know i want them i want to get haggled i want to get hassled oh hassle me baby yeah there’s the old uh car dealership parking lots back in the day where it’s like haggle slash hassle free zone it’s like no i want the haggle i want to ask i’m gonna put my sunglasses i’m gonna haggle like crazy yeah i don’t want this to be easy
[0:03:32 – 0:03:37] Adam: I’m going down to Scooby’s later to catch some action and watch some of the casting.
[0:03:37 – 0:03:40] Adam: And I’m going to be haggling some side bets, hopefully, down there.
[0:03:41 – 0:03:42] Adam: Just like in White Fang.
[0:03:44 – 0:04:06] Adam: think that’s how that works just like in white fang this is episode 285 of tumble home a proud independent podcast shout out to our patreons for your continued support of the show the tournaments we uh the fun and games and the community we got some new stickers in at the co-op this week too um some they got some latrines on them

[0:04:11 – 0:04:14] Erik: They somehow always do have a latrine on them.
[0:04:15 – 0:04:17] Adam: God, I have a latrine on them.
[0:04:17 – 0:04:23] Adam: I think these were being given out at Canoe Acopia, and some stickers were sent our way.
[0:04:23 – 0:04:24] Adam: So they’re in the tiny shopping cart.
[0:04:24 – 0:04:25] Adam: Anybody bring it in.
[0:04:25 – 0:04:26] Adam: Art supplies.
[0:04:27 – 0:04:41] Adam: We’ll get one of those stickers, one of the classic Season 2 Tumble Home stickers, and, of course, your quart or two of gravy, turkey, or beef, courtesy of Tick Check, our grocery manager.
[0:04:43 – 0:04:48] Adam: But first things first, we are going to be self-sponsored tonight for $2.85.
[0:04:50 – 0:05:00] Adam: Because we do have one sponsor left, but we are specifically instructed to only enjoy them, enjoy these art supplies, when it’s going to be nice and warm and sunny.
[0:05:00 – 0:05:03] Adam: And although it is the first day of spring.
[0:05:03 – 0:05:04] Adam: Is it?
[0:05:04 – 0:05:10] Adam: That was like a couple weeks ago, but I did see a red-winged blackbird yesterday, so now it’s officially spring.
[0:05:10 – 0:05:17] Erik: Well, yeah, we kind of got hammered with just that one last storm.
[0:05:17 – 0:05:18] Erik: Who knows?
[0:05:18 – 0:05:19] Erik: There’s probably going to be one more.
[0:05:19 – 0:05:20] Erik: There’ll be another one.
[0:05:20 – 0:05:22] Erik: Crazy first week of May.
[0:05:22 – 0:05:26] Erik: It’ll dip back down, and we’ll get another slop storm.
[0:05:26 – 0:05:26] Erik: But whatever.
[0:05:27 – 0:05:28] Erik: I think it’s over for the most part.
[0:05:29 – 0:05:29] Erik: Feels like it’s over.
[0:05:30 – 0:05:36] Erik: This last one was, of course, of effing course, the whole winter.
[0:05:37 – 0:05:43] Erik: They were short or not even close to their predictions.
[0:05:43 – 0:05:44] Erik: Four to eight?
[0:05:44 – 0:05:44] Erik: How about two?
[0:05:46 – 0:05:46] Erik: Six to ten?
[0:05:47 – 0:05:48] Erik: How about five?
[0:05:48 – 0:05:48] Erik: Right.
[0:05:49 – 0:05:52] Erik: And it’s like, that’s when I want the snow.
[0:05:52 – 0:05:54] Erik: December, January, February.
[0:05:54 – 0:05:55] Erik: That’s when I want the snow.
[0:05:55 – 0:05:56] Erik: Let’s do it.
[0:05:57 – 0:05:58] Erik: We’re always getting shorted.
[0:05:58 – 0:06:01] Erik: And then this one, it’s like 11 to 16.
[0:06:02 – 0:06:03] Erik: You’re going to get all 16, baby.
[0:06:03 – 0:06:05] Erik: You’re going to get the whole 16.
[0:06:05 – 0:06:06] Erik: And it’s going to be wet.
[0:06:06 – 0:06:08] Erik: And you’re going to try and move it once.
[0:06:08 – 0:06:09] Erik: You can’t move it ever again.
[0:06:09 – 0:06:11] Erik: Once you move it, it’s stuck there forever.
[0:06:12 – 0:06:12] Adam: Yeah, new friend.
[0:06:12 – 0:06:13] Adam: Yeah.
[0:06:13 – 0:06:14] Adam: This pile.
[0:06:14 – 0:06:17] Adam: Turns into a wet pile of absolute…
[0:06:17 – 0:06:19] Adam: This heap is your amigo, Jim.
[0:06:20 – 0:06:22] Erik: Amigo heap.
[0:06:22 – 0:06:25] Adam: Amigo heaps here on Tumble Home.
[0:06:26 – 0:06:27] Adam: Yeah.
[0:06:27 – 0:06:32] Adam: Saw the Red Wing Blackbird, and we had a big heap and a pile of snow.
[0:06:32 – 0:06:36] Erik: But it’s going quick, but it’s also…
[0:06:37 – 0:06:37] Erik: It’s that time of year.
[0:06:38 – 0:06:42] Erik: Two steps forward, three steps back, and then it’s two forward, two back, and then all of a sudden…
[0:06:43 – 0:06:44] Adam: Good for the moisture.
[0:06:44 – 0:06:45] Adam: Yeah, sure.
[0:06:45 – 0:06:46] Adam: Fill the creeks.
[0:06:46 – 0:06:47] Erik: Yep.
[0:06:47 – 0:06:49] Adam: Fill them up to the top, Jim.
[0:06:51 – 0:06:59] Erik: It’s not quite to that point three or four years ago where I did say F the lakes after one of those last big storms where people were saying, it’s good for the lakes.
[0:06:59 – 0:07:00] Adam: It’s good for the lakes.
[0:07:00 – 0:07:01] Adam: Yeah, it is.
[0:07:01 – 0:07:05] Erik: Actually, I mean, I think we’re much farther behind in moisture than…
[0:07:06 – 0:07:33] Adam: we were that year we’re not even close to 100 inches on the snow log that’s for sure that’s a rock fact 80 ish yeah i’m right about right about 80 there i counted this one as 10 but i could have probably counted it a bit more it was drifty and windy so hard to say 20 to plus the feeling inches behind where we you know usually are 80 inches is not the worst winter we’ve seen but it’s definitely not 100 and uh yeah it’s just uh been one of them deals but
[0:07:35 – 0:07:36] Adam: You know, I don’t know.
[0:07:36 – 0:07:36] Adam: It was fun.
[0:07:36 – 0:07:48] Adam: I’ve never seen, honestly, in all my years living up here, I count on one hand the amount of times I’ve seen it snowing that hard, though, once they dropped the blizzard warning in on Wednesday afternoon.
[0:07:48 – 0:07:51] Erik: Yeah, I was coming home from work that afternoon, and it was wild.
[0:07:51 – 0:07:52] Erik: It was a wild drive home.
[0:07:53 – 0:07:58] Adam: The snow was so sticky it was covering all the windows so you couldn’t even see outside.
[0:07:58 – 0:07:58] Erik: It was great.
[0:07:59 – 0:08:00] Adam: Yeah, it was wonderful.
[0:08:00 – 0:08:03] Adam: It was very cozy and very blizzardy.
[0:08:04 – 0:08:05] Adam: I was having a lot of fun.
[0:08:05 – 0:08:10] Adam: I stayed home for the whole day and just enjoyed the blizzard and played in the yard a bunch.
[0:08:10 – 0:08:15] Adam: It was that kind of snow where you’re outside for an hour and it was like you must have been out in a rainstorm.
[0:08:15 – 0:08:16] Adam: You’re so wet when you come in.
[0:08:17 – 0:08:18] Adam: Yeah, we dug a big hole.
[0:08:19 – 0:08:20] Adam: We built a cave.
[0:08:21 – 0:08:22] Adam: A snow cave, if you will.
[0:08:23 – 0:08:48] Adam: good uh yeah but the red wing blackbird came in like two days after that on the feeder and it was shocking to see like a different kind of bird you know we got some juncos in a couple weeks ago and that was something new and that’s otherwise it’s the same kind of birds the whole winter and then also you see this striking black bird with a small thin orange stripe on its wing and it’s like whoa who are you what kind of bird are you no
[0:08:50 – 0:08:52] Erik: What kind of bird are you?
[0:08:54 – 0:09:00] Adam: We got ourselves a Stiegel Radler with the lemons.
[0:09:01 – 0:09:09] Adam: We stopped in Spain, docked up with a yacht and loaded up on lemons and good German beer.
[0:09:12 – 0:09:15] Adam: And, of course, we will be talking about Das Boot.
[0:09:16 – 0:09:16] Adam: Das Boot?
[0:09:18 – 0:09:21] Adam: After the episode 285 has been concluded.
[0:09:21 – 0:09:30] Erik: I almost, I think I suggested this before we fired up the mics, that I was more excited about the Das Boot discussion.
[0:09:31 – 0:09:32] Erik: than the round two coverage.
[0:09:33 – 0:09:34] Erik: I don’t know if that’s necessarily true.
[0:09:34 – 0:09:37] Erik: It’s probably a toss-up, but there’s not been…
[0:09:37 – 0:09:39] Erik: I’m always excited to do any of this with you.
[0:09:40 – 0:09:42] Erik: I wouldn’t do it if it wasn’t fun and exciting.
[0:09:42 – 0:09:45] Erik: It’s not a job, but you know what I’m saying?
[0:09:45 – 0:09:52] Erik: There’s something about the TCCs that are always fun, and you let your guard down a little bit, and you can have a little bit more…
[0:09:52 – 0:09:53] Erik: True, yeah.
[0:09:53 – 0:09:54] Erik: You don’t have to worry about…
[0:09:54 – 0:10:11] Erik: checking yourself or offending anybody or trying to figure out where to put a loon bleep in but outside of all of that one of the more exciting movies that we get to look forward to talking about on this week’s TCC as sub month
[0:10:12 – 0:10:30] Erik: silently runs on into its second week um will the hedon torpedo make it to the sweet 16 this week i don’t know gotta lube those torpedoes up the salzberger stiegel rattlers seemed like an appropriate choice for this time of year
[0:10:31 – 0:10:43] Adam: One of the scenes that really struck me the most was when they get those lemons in and there’s that poor ghoul, Reek, engine man, diesel boy, Reek, was just chewing on lemons like the whole lemon.
[0:10:43 – 0:10:44] Adam: Johan?
[0:10:44 – 0:10:45] Erik: Yeah, Johan.
[0:10:45 – 0:10:47] Erik: What do they call him, the ghost?
[0:10:47 – 0:10:48] Adam: The ghost of the diesel.
[0:10:50 – 0:10:51] Adam: Stiegel.
[0:10:51 – 0:10:52] Adam: Stiegel.
[0:10:53 – 0:10:53] Adam: Cheers.
[0:10:53 – 0:10:54] Adam: Prost.
[0:10:54 – 0:10:54] Adam: Prost.
[0:10:58 – 0:11:17] Erik: basically like a seltzer that’s pretty refreshing um yeah so good uh i don’t even honestly know where to go after we’ll have this discussion later on five dollars a month to you patrons somebody was suggesting to listen to us figure out what where do you go from das boat
[0:11:18 – 0:11:19] Erik: Yellow Submarine.
[0:11:19 – 0:11:21] Erik: It is clearly the best submarine movie of all time.
[0:11:22 – 0:11:23] Erik: No spoilers beyond that.
[0:11:23 – 0:11:26] Erik: I’m just saying there is nothing that comes even close to it.
[0:11:26 – 0:11:32] Erik: I thought we had done what was the consensus best last week with Crimson Tide.
[0:11:33 – 0:11:33] Erik: Right.
[0:11:33 – 0:11:34] Erik: This movie is fantastic.
[0:11:34 – 0:11:58] Adam: four times better than crimson tide it’s better than any sub movie i’ve ever seen i don’t even know my favorite sub so far just on the physical boat itself yeah i want to be on this sub that’s my favorite sub so far like at the same time i don’t want to be on that sub no no uh it is more of a boat than a sub because they mostly are driving around on the surface
[0:11:58 – 0:12:02] Erik: They do a lot more surface work than the submarine in Crimson Tide.
[0:12:02 – 0:12:05] Erik: That one seems like it’s just in the depths the whole time.
[0:12:05 – 0:12:07] Adam: Rarely comes anywhere near the surface.
[0:12:07 – 0:12:09] Adam: This one’s living on the surface like a fish.
[0:12:09 – 0:12:09] Erik: Yeah.
[0:12:10 – 0:12:14] Erik: For a three and a half hour movie, though, I thought this was going to be like a whole week slog.
[0:12:14 – 0:12:18] Erik: Like, I’ll just take out like 40 minutes, hour at a time.
[0:12:18 – 0:12:21] Erik: And I put it on and I plowed through the whole thing.
[0:12:21 – 0:12:22] Erik: I didn’t plow through it.
[0:12:22 – 0:12:23] Erik: All of a sudden it was over.
[0:12:23 – 0:12:25] Erik: Plowed through it like a North Atlantic storm.
[0:12:26 – 0:12:28] Erik: I couldn’t stop watching it.
[0:12:28 – 0:12:31] Erik: I was transfixed the whole time, and I cannot wait to talk about it.
[0:12:31 – 0:12:32] Adam: But before that…
[0:12:32 – 0:12:33] Adam: I’m excited to talk about it.
[0:12:34 – 0:12:38] Adam: I’m going to bite into that TCC like a ripe lemon.
[0:12:40 – 0:12:42] Erik: We do have some coverage, though, to get to.
[0:12:43 – 0:12:44] Adam: That’s why everybody else is here.
[0:12:45 – 0:12:46] Adam: Oh, for sure.
[0:12:46 – 0:12:52] Adam: And it’s a lot of great matchups tonight in the learnament from Tumble Home Sports Network.
[0:12:52 – 0:12:54] Adam: This is going to be a hell of an evening here.
[0:12:55 – 0:13:01] Adam: We’re going to really see who’s the true contenders after tonight’s votes are in.
[0:13:02 – 0:13:05] Adam: And as we said earlier, we haven’t seen the results, so this is going to be all new to us.
[0:13:06 – 0:13:09] Erik: It only takes two weeks to get willed down to half the field.
[0:13:09 – 0:13:13] Adam: Did you figure out what the remaining schedule is going forward then?
[0:13:14 – 0:13:16] Erik: No, we’ll find out when we pull up the tournament here in a second.
[0:13:16 – 0:13:18] Erik: We’ll know for sure how that all shakes out.
[0:13:19 – 0:13:21] Erik: I know this next week is a full week.
[0:13:21 – 0:13:28] Erik: I think it’s maybe the week after that that we truncate some of the voting times so we’re not just all voting on two games.
[0:13:30 – 0:13:32] Adam: I think that’s how it makes sense, but yeah, we’ll see it.
[0:13:33 – 0:13:35] Adam: We’ll keep you guys filled in on that one, but…
[0:13:36 – 0:13:43] Adam: Yeah, we got 32 teams left in the tournament, and everybody’s got a win under their belt.
[0:13:43 – 0:13:45] Adam: A lot of fish caught last week.
[0:13:46 – 0:13:46] Erik: Just one.
[0:13:47 – 0:13:47] Erik: One win each.
[0:13:47 – 0:13:50] Erik: It’s going to take two to get down to 16, though.
[0:13:52 – 0:13:53] Erik: Should we get into it?
[0:13:53 – 0:13:57] Erik: You got a halfway decent idea.
[0:13:58 – 0:13:58] Adam: We starting in the West.
[0:13:59 – 0:14:00] Adam: Starting in the West.
[0:14:01 – 0:14:03] Adam: Yes, Jim, let’s get into it.
[0:14:05 – 0:14:14] Erik: Okay, they have correctly pulled up the tournament, which does in fact say that round three does run through this next Saturday.
[0:14:14 – 0:14:24] Erik: We’ll get back to you as to how the semis and the finals work of each side of the tournament.
[0:14:24 – 0:14:29] Adam: But as of right now, we are moving on to round two.
[0:14:30 – 0:14:30] Adam: We’ve got X-Wrap.
[0:14:32 – 0:14:42] Erik: Versus the eight seed top walker who made it out of the first round past the sweet musky thriller.
[0:14:43 – 0:14:48] Erik: X-Rap pretty clearly destroying the top walker.
[0:14:48 – 0:14:49] Erik: One seed versus the eight.
[0:14:49 – 0:14:49] Erik: 59-5.
[0:14:52 – 0:14:53] Adam: Oh, we’ve dropped down some votes, Jim.
[0:14:53 – 0:14:55] Adam: A little bit, yeah.
[0:14:55 – 0:14:59] Erik: But the X-Rap moves on, nonetheless, into the Sweet 16.
[0:14:59 – 0:15:00] Erik: Not really a shocker.
[0:15:00 – 0:15:02] Adam: Not really a surprise.
[0:15:03 – 0:15:10] Adam: Top walker’s a trophy fish kind of lure, so even though they only caught five fish in the second round, it’s nothing to scoff at.
[0:15:10 – 0:15:23] Adam: As we said last week, five smaller fish, not going to do you a lot, but if you get five huge fish, that could, in theory, beat 59 small fish on the court or in the pond, as they say.
[0:15:23 – 0:15:24] Adam: Yeah.
[0:15:24 – 0:15:29] Adam: Although it looks like a lopsided affair here for the XRAP, and it most likely was.
[0:15:29 – 0:15:29] Adam: Yeah.
[0:15:30 – 0:15:53] Adam: you know a couple big fish can make a big difference with these big lures you know but x-rap can catch a big fish though too you know it you know it you know it i’ve seen you catch several big fish jim on this uh x-rap lure itself yeah i’m i’m all team i’m all team x-rap at this point we love the x-rap here on tumble home sports network and questions yeah i think that’s well known
[0:15:54 – 0:16:00] Adam: Moving on, we are, of course, coming to you live from the Beaver House in Grand Marais.
[0:16:00 – 0:16:07] Adam: Although the poll tab says we are in the West, it’s more complicated than that, really, when it comes to a tournament.
[0:16:07 – 0:16:11] Erik: Look at any given NCAA March Madness tournament.
[0:16:11 – 0:16:14] Erik: It says East, and it gives you a region, and then it’s like South.
[0:16:14 – 0:16:15] Erik: It’s all relative.
[0:16:15 – 0:16:17] Erik: It’s like, oh, Bristol, Connecticut?
[0:16:17 – 0:16:17] Erik: What?
[0:16:17 – 0:16:18] Erik: That’s not the South.
[0:16:18 – 0:16:18] Erik: It doesn’t matter.
[0:16:18 – 0:16:20] Erik: It’s just the name of that section.
[0:16:20 – 0:16:22] Adam: It’s just what PollTab needs to know.
[0:16:23 – 0:16:34] Adam: But for you keeping score at home, and we will post the updated Tagboard Superboard bracketology of the learnament at the conclusion of tonight’s episode.
[0:16:35 – 0:16:40] Adam: So by the time you listen to this, that’ll be up on the Discord for sure in high definition.
[0:16:40 – 0:16:42] Adam: But we are at the Beaver House in Grand Marais right now.
[0:16:44 – 0:16:45] Adam: This is a tough section of the bracket.
[0:16:46 – 0:16:47] Adam: I’ll just say that.
[0:16:48 – 0:16:51] Adam: This one and Scoobies and Ely are very, very tough.
[0:16:52 – 0:16:54] Erik: One out of 16 teams is through.
[0:16:54 – 0:16:56] Erik: Who’s X-Rap going up against?
[0:16:57 – 0:16:57] Adam: All right, Jim.
[0:16:59 – 0:17:03] Adam: We got the five seed, Meps number five, Double Blade.
[0:17:03 – 0:17:11] Adam: Going up against the teensy-bladed 13-seed Panther Martin in a battle of big spinner versus little spinner.
[0:17:11 – 0:17:15] Adam: It’s a tingler classic here in Grand Marais, Jim.
[0:17:16 – 0:17:21] Adam: And the Meps, number five double blade is through with 41 fish in the second round.
[0:17:21 – 0:17:24] Adam: Panther Martin, respectable showing in this tournament.
[0:17:24 – 0:17:28] Adam: 23 fish in the second round, putting up a really nice fight for a small tingler.
[0:17:30 – 0:17:36] Adam: And we got ourselves a real show here in the big finale here in Grand Marais.
[0:17:36 – 0:17:40] Adam: It’s going to be the number one seed X-Wrap going up against the Meps number five Double Blade.
[0:17:41 – 0:17:44] Adam: That is going to be a hell of a game.
[0:17:44 – 0:17:49] Erik: Yeah, the 13 seed Cinderella story does end after one win.
[0:17:50 – 0:17:52] Erik: Unfortunate for the Panther Martins.
[0:17:52 – 0:17:53] Erik: Great season.
[0:17:54 – 0:17:55] Erik: Put up a pretty good fight.
[0:17:57 – 0:17:57] Erik: But what are you going to say?
[0:17:59 – 0:18:00] Erik: The double blades.
[0:18:00 – 0:18:01] Erik: Too many blades.
[0:18:02 – 0:18:09] Erik: But yes, like you suggested, the X-Wrap and the Meps number five double blade going up against each other.
[0:18:09 – 0:18:10] Erik: In the Sweet 16.
[0:18:10 – 0:18:11] Erik: In the Sweet 16.
[0:18:11 – 0:18:13] Erik: That’s crazy.
[0:18:13 – 0:18:14] Erik: That’s going to be a solid matchup.
[0:18:14 – 0:18:17] Erik: Cannot wait to see how that one shakes out.
[0:18:17 – 0:18:21] Erik: A couple more matchups moving down.
[0:18:23 – 0:18:26] Adam: To the 11, Red Eye Wiggler.
[0:18:26 – 0:18:27] Adam: This is the eyeball game.
[0:18:27 – 0:18:30] Adam: The eyeball matchup of the week versus the Cyclops.
[0:18:30 – 0:18:32] Erik: Two eyes versus one eye.
[0:18:32 – 0:18:33] Erik: The Red Eye Wiggler.
[0:18:34 – 0:18:36] Erik: 25, Fish.
[0:18:36 – 0:18:39] Erik: Going up against the number three, Mep Cyclops.
[0:18:39 – 0:18:39] Erik: 39.
[0:18:42 – 0:18:43] Erik: Another Meps is through.
[0:18:43 – 0:18:45] Erik: Another Meps is through.
[0:18:45 – 0:18:49] Erik: Could it be a Meps-UnMeps matchup in the Elite Eight going forward?
[0:18:49 – 0:18:50] Erik: We shall see.
[0:18:51 – 0:18:58] Erik: But for now, we should celebrate the versatile, the Mepsiness of the Cyclops.
[0:19:00 – 0:19:02] Erik: It’s got that tuber on the top of the treble hook.
[0:19:02 – 0:19:07] Erik: Yes, it does have that little fluorescent orange tube.
[0:19:07 – 0:19:10] Erik: Adds a little something to the presentation.
[0:19:10 – 0:19:11] Erik: A little something.
[0:19:12 – 0:19:19] Adam: Not too many times you can say in a matchup of this caliber that you got three eyeballs in this matchup.
[0:19:20 – 0:19:21] Erik: Whittled all the way down to one.
[0:19:22 – 0:19:25] Adam: Yeah, the wire failed.
[0:19:25 – 0:19:27] Adam: Both the red eyes have fallen out of the wiggler.
[0:19:27 – 0:19:28] Erik: It’s in other maps, though.
[0:19:29 – 0:19:33] Adam: Yeah, it’s another Meps, and Meps catches fish.
[0:19:33 – 0:19:34] Adam: I’ll tell you that much for free.
[0:19:34 – 0:19:38] Erik: It seems like we’re living in a Meps world.
[0:19:39 – 0:19:41] Erik: It’s a Meps world, and we’re all just living in it.
[0:19:41 – 0:19:43] Adam: I like to see these close matchups, though.
[0:19:43 – 0:19:45] Adam: Had a lot of blowouts in the first round.
[0:19:45 – 0:19:46] Adam: You know how it goes.
[0:19:47 – 0:19:52] Adam: You get into the second round, the third round here coming up, these start to get real tight.
[0:19:53 – 0:19:55] Adam: It comes down to every vote, so let’s remember that.
[0:19:55 – 0:20:04] Adam: So make sure you make a trip to a couple of random libraries or other free Wi-Fi points and jam the ballot box.
[0:20:04 – 0:20:05] Erik: Change up that IP address.
[0:20:06 – 0:20:10] Adam: Yeah, there’s technology available for that, and there are no rules here.
[0:20:11 – 0:20:16] Erik: The final matchup in the Beaver House section.
[0:20:16 – 0:20:19] Adam: Got the number 10 seed, Rat L Trap.
[0:20:21 – 0:20:22] Adam: Going up against that.
[0:20:23 – 0:20:25] Adam: Number two, Senko Worm.
[0:20:26 – 0:20:27] Adam: Holy moly, Jim.
[0:20:28 – 0:20:30] Adam: Am I reading these results correctly?
[0:20:30 – 0:20:32] Adam: It looks like we got a one vote difference here.
[0:20:33 – 0:20:34] Adam: The Rat L Trap.
[0:20:35 – 0:20:39] Adam: In a squeaker, 33 to 32 fish is through.
[0:20:39 – 0:20:41] Erik: Wow, that might be the closest.
[0:20:41 – 0:20:42] Erik: A one vote difference?
[0:20:42 – 0:20:43] Erik: I’ve never seen a one vote difference.
[0:20:44 – 0:20:45] Erik: It’s possible for a tie.
[0:20:45 – 0:20:46] Erik: What happens in a tie?
[0:20:47 – 0:21:09] Adam: uh highest seed goes through i would assume but we’ve never seen it on tumble home sports network it’s unfathomable uh jim did you vote this week i never vote you’ve never voted never get involved i don’t want to skew the results one way or another in in uh this is too close for comfort i’m feeling a little heated a shocking last second uh
[0:21:11 – 0:21:12] Erik: What would you call it?
[0:21:12 – 0:21:14] Erik: Aggravation strike?
[0:21:14 – 0:21:14] Erik: Yes.
[0:21:16 – 0:21:20] Erik: The grieved bass came out of the pads and… Wasn’t even hooked in the lip.
[0:21:20 – 0:21:23] Erik: He just thrashed his side into the rattle trap.
[0:21:24 – 0:21:25] Erik: Got hooked on the outside.
[0:21:25 – 0:21:26] Erik: Pectoral fin.
[0:21:26 – 0:21:27] Adam: Yeah.
[0:21:27 – 0:21:30] Adam: Hooked by the fin on that rattle trap.
[0:21:30 – 0:21:33] Adam: He was trying to throw a devastating hook at the hook.
[0:21:34 – 0:21:34] Adam: Wow.
[0:21:34 – 0:21:36] Erik: Can’t believe that the Senkos went down.
[0:21:36 – 0:21:38] Erik: It seems like…
[0:21:41 – 0:21:49] Erik: I mean, maybe it could be a sign of things to come, but we’re into the hard metals and plastics at this point.
[0:21:49 – 0:21:52] Erik: Nothing soft has gotten through to the Elite 8 up to this point.
[0:21:56 – 0:21:57] Adam: The Rat-L-Trap.
[0:21:58 – 0:21:59] Adam: Rat-L-Trap.
[0:21:59 – 0:22:01] Adam: One vote, one fish.
[0:22:01 – 0:22:06] Adam: Mega rattles in there, just pissing off the whole neighborhood.
[0:22:07 – 0:22:07] Erik: Wow.
[0:22:07 – 0:22:07] Adam: I don’t know.
[0:22:07 – 0:22:09] Adam: Maybe it was just an…
[0:22:09 – 0:22:10] Adam: It’s a lure of our time.
[0:22:11 – 0:22:11] Erik: Yeah, apparently.
[0:22:12 – 0:22:20] Erik: Either they’re outperforming the committee’s seating, or they were meant to be seated much higher.
[0:22:20 – 0:22:22] Erik: It is hard to say what is happening right now.
[0:22:22 – 0:22:24] Erik: It’s a real boomer bust lure right there.
[0:22:24 – 0:22:26] Erik: The 10 seed has moved on.
[0:22:26 – 0:22:26] Erik: Rattletrap.
[0:22:26 – 0:22:28] Erik: Maybe it’s that it’s all in caps.
[0:22:28 – 0:22:29] Adam: Ah, yeah.
[0:22:29 – 0:22:33] Adam: And it’s spelled, yeah, just the L. The hyphens?
[0:22:33 – 0:22:34] Adam: I’m all here for the hyphens.
[0:22:34 – 0:22:35] Adam: Me too.
[0:22:35 – 0:22:35] Adam: Me too.
[0:22:36 – 0:22:37] Adam: That’s a big matchup there.
[0:22:39 – 0:22:41] Adam: Cyclops versus Rattletrap.
[0:22:42 – 0:22:48] Adam: Three versus 10, and then we got the X-Wrap versus the Meps No.
[0:22:48 – 0:22:49] Adam: 5 Double Blade.
[0:22:50 – 0:22:58] Adam: That is some high-powered offense going over there in Grand Marais at the Beaver House.
[0:22:58 – 0:22:59] Adam: That’s going to be…
[0:23:00 – 0:23:05] Adam: We’re in for a real treat here in Grand Marais as we round out that section of the bracket.
[0:23:05 – 0:23:06] Adam: And I want more.
[0:23:06 – 0:23:09] Adam: I can’t wait to find out what’s going to happen next.
[0:23:09 – 0:23:10] Adam: I want more.
[0:23:10 – 0:23:11] Adam: I want more.
[0:23:11 – 0:23:12] Adam: I want to tie some knots right now.
[0:23:12 – 0:23:17] Adam: I’m going to get out some fluorocarbon, and I’m going to fiddle with it while we scroll this bracket.
[0:23:17 – 0:23:17] Erik: Okay.
[0:23:18 – 0:23:20] Erik: Well, we’re moving on down to the…
[0:23:22 – 0:23:23] Erik: What unit is this?
[0:23:25 – 0:23:27] Adam: This is in the Scoobies.
[0:23:27 – 0:23:28] Adam: The Scoobies unit?
[0:23:28 – 0:23:29] Adam: Yeah.
[0:23:29 – 0:23:29] Adam: Okay.
[0:23:30 – 0:23:31] Adam: The other bracket in the West.
[0:23:31 – 0:23:36] Erik: We had a couple of teams coming off of close to demolishing victories.
[0:23:36 – 0:23:43] Erik: The little Cleo easily handling the 16 seed Amos’s handmade tin spoon in the first round.
[0:23:43 – 0:23:44] Erik: Going up against the Beatlespin.
[0:23:45 – 0:23:49] Erik: Pretty well taken care of the eight seed Bulldogs.
[0:23:49 – 0:23:51] Erik: A mild upset there.
[0:23:51 – 0:23:53] Erik: But the little Cleos in the second round.
[0:23:54 – 0:23:55] Erik: Not even a question.
[0:23:56 – 0:23:58] Erik: 47-17, moving on.
[0:23:58 – 0:24:00] Erik: Clearly, another one seed moving on.
[0:24:01 – 0:24:03] Erik: We got two out of four one seeds.
[0:24:03 – 0:24:10] Erik: It’s going to be a reflection of this year’s basketball tourney.
[0:24:11 – 0:24:16] Adam: Basketball, gimme, gimme, gimme the ball because I’m going to dunk it.
[0:24:18 – 0:24:36] Adam: all number ones get into the final four for the first time and uh gosh knows how long i doubt the voters will let the committee uh get a big head about it they will be put in their place at some point yeah i’m sure we will little cleo is a hell of a lure though uh always love it and uh
[0:24:38 – 0:24:40] Adam: 47 votes is pretty impressive.
[0:24:40 – 0:24:42] Adam: Going to the sweet 16.
[0:24:42 – 0:24:43] Adam: In style.
[0:24:44 – 0:24:45] Adam: In style.
[0:24:46 – 0:24:46] Adam: I saw one.
[0:24:46 – 0:24:51] Adam: I was looking for some spoon, and I saw one on the internet.
[0:24:51 – 0:24:52] Adam: It was anchovy flavored.
[0:24:53 – 0:24:54] Erik: Looking for some spoon?
[0:24:54 – 0:24:58] Adam: Glow anchovy little Cleo in a three quarter ounce.
[0:24:58 – 0:24:59] Adam: That’s a big chovy.
[0:24:59 – 0:25:00] Adam: That is a big chovy.
[0:25:00 – 0:25:02] Adam: Hi, hi, hi, hi, hi, hi.
[0:25:02 – 0:25:02] Adam: Beetle spin.
[0:25:03 – 0:25:04] Adam: Go home.
[0:25:04 – 0:25:05] Adam: You’re going to bed.
[0:25:07 – 0:25:08] Adam: Think about what you’ve done.
[0:25:08 – 0:25:10] Adam: 17 votes for the beetle spin.
[0:25:10 – 0:25:12] Erik: It’s a full rejiggering.
[0:25:13 – 0:25:15] Adam: You’re going to want to re-tie that knot for sure.
[0:25:16 – 0:25:18] Adam: You almost over-scrolled that one.
[0:25:18 – 0:25:28] Adam: Going on next, we got the five-seed jointed shad wrap going up against the beloved number four seed Johnson silver minnow.
[0:25:30 – 0:25:32] Adam: And it wasn’t even close here.
[0:25:32 – 0:25:34] Adam: We got a couple real…
[0:25:35 – 0:26:02] Adam: ass kickings here in scoobies going on jointed shad wrap is through with 48 votes the johnson silver minnow managed 14 fish uh from the thick cover and that beautiful single hook but they were no match for the jointed shad wrap yikes they’re through it’s a little cleo versus a jointed shad wrap i feel like this is half my tackle box yeah and my tackle box jim is not that big
[0:26:02 – 0:26:05] Erik: How do you choose a winner in that matchup there?
[0:26:05 – 0:26:06] Erik: That’s a tough one.
[0:26:06 – 0:26:16] Adam: I think I’m going to have to go your route, Buddhist monk style, and just refrain from voting for the rest of this tournament because these are hitting a little too close to my own tackle box.
[0:26:17 – 0:26:19] Erik: A little too close to my own tackle box.
[0:26:20 – 0:26:24] Erik: I’m crying, and I don’t know if they’re tears of joy or not.
[0:26:25 – 0:26:26] Adam: But I am happy to see both these lures through.
[0:26:26 – 0:26:28] Adam: So anticipation.
[0:26:28 – 0:26:28] Adam: Yeah, I know.
[0:26:29 – 0:26:31] Adam: I don’t think any…
[0:26:31 – 0:26:35] Erik: I’ve had no problem with any of these teams that have made it through so far.
[0:26:35 – 0:26:38] Erik: These Boy Scouts, these Indian and Boy Scouts are…
[0:26:39 – 0:26:40] Adam: They’re gonna do just fine.
[0:26:40 – 0:26:41] Adam: You’re gonna be…
[0:26:41 – 0:26:45] Adam: You could pick anything out of the Sweet 16 and probably do just fine.
[0:26:45 – 0:26:54] Erik: I would say at the Sweet 16 level at this point, I haven’t seen anything that I would be scoffing at or making fun of anybody for having in there.
[0:26:54 – 0:26:59] Adam: As I said, this West region is loaded with talent.
[0:26:59 – 0:27:01] Adam: A lot of fish being caught over here in the West.
[0:27:01 – 0:27:08] Erik: Moving on down to the six versus three matchup.
[0:27:09 – 0:27:10] Erik: The Berkeley Chapo.
[0:27:12 – 0:27:18] Erik: Versus the highly memed during this last week, Blue Fox Vibrax.
[0:27:19 – 0:27:22] Erik: The Vibrax, 42 to Berkeley.
[0:27:22 – 0:27:23] Erik: Chapo’s, 20.
[0:27:24 – 0:27:25] Erik: The three seed, Blue Fox.
[0:27:26 – 0:27:27] Erik: The Vibrax is moving on.
[0:27:28 – 0:27:29] Erik: Chapo is dusty.
[0:27:29 – 0:27:29] Erik: Chapo.
[0:27:30 – 0:27:31] Erik: Vibrax is vibrant.
[0:27:31 – 0:27:32] Erik: Get chopped.
[0:27:32 – 0:27:33] Adam: Get out of here.
[0:27:35 – 0:27:37] Adam: Number three seed is through.
[0:27:37 – 0:27:38] Adam: That’s a good one.
[0:27:38 – 0:27:39] Adam: People love that Vibrax.
[0:27:39 – 0:27:40] Adam: Watch out.
[0:27:42 – 0:27:59] Adam: They’re going up against the number two seed, Husky Jerk, which royally beat down on the spotted porcupine liver in round one and did so again in round two, clobbering the number 10 seed, Lazy Ike, out of bed.
[0:28:00 – 0:28:02] Adam: Only nine fish for Lazy Ike.
[0:28:03 – 0:28:04] Adam: You overslept your alarm.
[0:28:04 – 0:28:07] Adam: The bums will always lose.
[0:28:07 – 0:28:11] Adam: Number two seed Husky Jerk is through with 53 fish in the second round.
[0:28:11 – 0:28:17] Adam: I did not imply or intend to imply that the Husky Jerk was in any way affiliated with the Big Lebowski.
[0:28:18 – 0:28:19] Erik: Yeah.
[0:28:19 – 0:28:20] Erik: Look at their last two matchups.
[0:28:20 – 0:28:21] Erik: The Husky Jerk has put a full beating.
[0:28:22 – 0:28:25] Adam: That might be some of the double impressive.
[0:28:25 – 0:28:30] Adam: They’re taking out the liver and the lazy.
[0:28:30 – 0:28:34] Erik: But as up to this point, you know, they have taken care of business.
[0:28:34 – 0:28:43] Erik: We’ll see what the actual matchup in terms of real competition comes down to next week when they’re going up against the Vibraxes or the Blue Foxes.
[0:28:44 – 0:28:44] Erik: I’m not sure.
[0:28:45 – 0:28:45] Erik: One or the other.
[0:28:46 – 0:28:48] Adam: But they’re howling at the moon.
[0:28:48 – 0:28:49] Adam: Both of them.
[0:28:50 – 0:28:53] Adam: The Husky Vibraxes and the Blue Fox Jerks.
[0:28:54 – 0:28:55] Erik: Blue Fox Jerks.
[0:28:55 – 0:28:55] Adam: They’re going at it.
[0:28:55 – 0:28:59] Adam: They’re snapping and whistling at the streets of Ely next week.
[0:28:59 – 0:29:00] Adam: Watch out.
[0:29:00 – 0:29:01] Adam: That’s going to be something else.
[0:29:01 – 0:29:07] Adam: That, I think, does conclude it for the west side of the learnament.
[0:29:07 – 0:29:12] Adam: 2025 coming to you live on Tumble Home Sports Network.
[0:29:13 – 0:29:16] Adam: You can find these links, of course, on the Discord.
[0:29:16 – 0:29:19] Adam: That’s tumblehomecast on Reddit.
[0:29:21 – 0:29:23] Adam: Links are available in the show notes as well.
[0:29:25 – 0:29:30] Adam: And, yeah, if you click on that, you’re going to see the current status of the tournament.
[0:29:31 – 0:29:40] Adam: So you can zoom all the way out and see all the coverage and scores from round one and two and place your votes for the matchups in the Sweet 16 round three.
[0:29:41 – 0:29:48] Adam: Wrapping up here in our regionals, we’ve got, of course, Grammaray, Ely, and we’re coming up next in the east.
[0:29:49 – 0:29:54] Adam: I think we’re going to Voyager, Bait, and Tackle in Atacocan, Ontario.
[0:29:56 – 0:29:57] Adam: Ontario.
[0:30:00 – 0:30:04] Erik: It seems like another one seed is going to move on here.
[0:30:07 – 0:30:07] Erik: First round.
[0:30:08 – 0:30:10] Erik: The clubbing sticks at a 16 seed.
[0:30:10 – 0:30:13] Erik: No match for the MAPS Aglia number threes.
[0:30:14 – 0:30:15] Erik: Not to be confused.
[0:30:16 – 0:30:17] Erik: Not a number three seed.
[0:30:18 – 0:30:19] Erik: It’s a number one seed.
[0:30:21 – 0:30:24] Erik: Going up against the eight seed crappie tubes.
[0:30:25 – 0:30:25] Adam: Again.
[0:30:26 – 0:30:26] Adam: Two tone.
[0:30:26 – 0:30:27] Adam: Not enough.
[0:30:27 – 0:30:28] Adam: Not enough.
[0:30:29 – 0:30:29] Adam: I got tone.
[0:30:29 – 0:30:30] Adam: I got tone.
[0:30:30 – 0:30:31] Adam: Splash five.
[0:30:32 – 0:30:33] Adam: Is that the fourth MAPS?
[0:30:34 – 0:30:35] Erik: Third MAPS through for sure.
[0:30:35 – 0:30:36] Erik: Third MAPS through?
[0:30:39 – 0:30:43] Adam: We got the MEPS number five double blade and the MEPS Cyclops.
[0:30:43 – 0:30:45] Erik: Just bring an assortment of MEPS.
[0:30:46 – 0:30:48] Erik: Seems like a pretty good solution.
[0:30:48 – 0:30:51] Adam: And now the MEPS number three Aglia.
[0:30:51 – 0:30:52] Adam: This is the third MEPS through.
[0:30:52 – 0:30:57] Adam: We have a double bladed, a single bladed, and a spoon all through from MEPS.
[0:30:57 – 0:30:58] Adam: The French.
[0:31:00 – 0:31:00] Erik: Be wary.
[0:31:01 – 0:31:02] Erik: Au revoir.
[0:31:03 – 0:31:05] Erik: Number one seed, MEPS.
[0:31:05 – 0:31:08] Erik: 62, eight seed, crappy tube.
[0:31:09 – 0:31:12] Adam: Is the MEPS Aglia the most French of the MEPS lures?
[0:31:12 – 0:31:13] Erik: I think it is.
[0:31:13 – 0:31:17] Adam: Them lures, it’s appropriate then that it’s up in Atacocan.
[0:31:18 – 0:31:19] Adam: Yeah, there’s a lot of French people up there, right?
[0:31:20 – 0:31:23] Adam: The park rangers are required by law to speak fresh.
[0:31:24 – 0:31:26] Adam: Bilingual at the very least.
[0:31:27 – 0:31:28] Adam: At the very least, maybe try.
[0:31:28 – 0:31:29] Adam: Try.
[0:31:30 – 0:31:30] Adam: Maybe try.
[0:31:30 – 0:31:31] Adam: Maybe Trey.
[0:31:32 – 0:31:33] Adam: Trey.
[0:31:33 – 0:31:34] Adam: Tasty ammo.
[0:31:34 – 0:31:40] Adam: That’s what I’m going to call these Stiegel Rattlers with nine lemons per can.
[0:31:40 – 0:31:42] Erik: Warding off the scurvy.
[0:31:42 – 0:31:42] Adam: Yeah.
[0:31:44 – 0:31:45] Erik: Yeah.
[0:31:45 – 0:31:45] Adam: Yeah.
[0:31:46 – 0:31:48] Adam: We got a rendezvous in Spain.
[0:31:48 – 0:31:51] Adam: Pick up some more lube for the torpedoes there, Jim.
[0:31:53 – 0:31:55] Erik: Sleeping next to a torpedo shoot.
[0:31:56 – 0:31:56] Adam: Yeah.
[0:31:56 – 0:31:56] Adam: Yeah.
[0:31:58 – 0:32:01] Adam: I can’t imagine anybody else actually sleeping on those boats.
[0:32:02 – 0:32:02] Erik: Yeah.
[0:32:02 – 0:32:05] Erik: I mean, it seems like they got pretty comfortable when they were underwater, though.
[0:32:06 – 0:32:06] Erik: That’s where I’d want to be.
[0:32:07 – 0:32:09] Erik: Not up on the surface and all the waves.
[0:32:09 – 0:32:10] Adam: Real cozy.
[0:32:10 – 0:32:10] Adam: Yeah.
[0:32:10 – 0:32:13] Adam: Once you get underwater, it’s cozy and soothing.
[0:32:13 – 0:32:14] Erik: Yeah.
[0:32:14 – 0:32:19] Adam: That’s the feelings you’re going to get being in a tin can at the bottom of the jail brothel, your straits.
[0:32:19 – 0:32:23] Adam: Right before you get depth charged for the 80th time in a row.
[0:32:25 – 0:32:37] Adam: We both ran into each other at the municipal liquor store while we were getting these Stiegels, and then somebody else, they ended up talking about depth charges, and that is a shot that involves whiskey, I believe.
[0:32:37 – 0:32:43] Erik: I suggested that you do a drinking game where you drink every time the boat gets depth charged.
[0:32:43 – 0:32:45] Adam: You wouldn’t make it out of the first act.
[0:32:45 – 0:32:45] Adam: No.
[0:32:46 – 0:32:49] Erik: They were like, well, you do a depth charge every time they get depth charged.
[0:32:49 – 0:32:51] Adam: Yeah, you’re barely making it out of port there, sailor.
[0:32:52 – 0:32:52] Adam: Yeah.
[0:32:52 – 0:32:54] Adam: No, that’s recipe for…
[0:32:54 – 0:32:56] Adam: A short night, I think.
[0:32:56 – 0:32:58] Adam: Good night, sweet prince.
[0:32:59 – 0:33:07] Adam: Anyways, the crappie tube is a nice little lure there, but there’s no match for them maps, especially in French-speaking Ontario.
[0:33:07 – 0:33:09] Erik: Maybe some home court refs.
[0:33:09 – 0:33:10] Erik: Who knows?
[0:33:12 – 0:33:15] Adam: Atakokan in French means feathered tail.
[0:33:16 – 0:33:16] Erik: Yeah.
[0:33:16 – 0:33:18] Adam: This is a real home court advantage.
[0:33:18 – 0:33:18] Erik: Really?
[0:33:19 – 0:33:19] Erik: Really.
[0:33:20 – 0:33:21] Adam: All right, moving on.
[0:33:21 – 0:33:31] Adam: We have the 12-seed Hog Wobbler, Don Molte, going up against the number four seed, OG Floating Balsa Rapala.
[0:33:32 – 0:33:37] Adam: And this, I think, is our new biggest point total for the second round.
[0:33:37 – 0:33:43] Adam: And I think the OG Rapala four seed has the most votes currently in the learnament.
[0:33:43 – 0:33:47] Erik: They’ve only given up nine points in two games.
[0:33:47 – 0:33:51] Adam: Yeah, everybody knows they attract a lot of bites, but, man, the defense.
[0:33:52 – 0:33:56] Adam: The Hog Wobbler only managed six votes in the second round.
[0:33:57 – 0:34:04] Adam: The OG Rapala got 69 votes and is easily going through, and that is a crazy matchup.
[0:34:04 – 0:34:06] Adam: Now this is where it gets really tough.
[0:34:07 – 0:34:10] Adam: Meps Agla number three versus an OG floating Rapala.
[0:34:10 – 0:34:15] Adam: I would say both of these lures could win this tournament in another life, brother.
[0:34:15 – 0:34:19] Erik: It’s unfortunate that they have to go up against each other, but that’s how these tournaments work.
[0:34:19 – 0:34:21] Adam: There can only be one.
[0:34:21 – 0:34:24] Adam: You got to beat the best if you want to be the best.
[0:34:24 – 0:34:27] Adam: This is going to be the smallest tickle box you’ve ever seen.
[0:34:29 – 0:34:32] Adam: You got to beat the best if you want to be the best, Eric.
[0:34:32 – 0:34:33] Adam: That’s true.
[0:34:35 – 0:34:36] Adam: It’s not my turn to scroll.
[0:34:36 – 0:34:37] Adam: I’m scrolling.
[0:34:37 – 0:34:38] Adam: He’s scrolling.
[0:34:39 – 0:34:43] Adam: Yeah, the Rapala just beating up on the Chautauqua minnow and the hog wobbler.
[0:34:44 – 0:34:48] Adam: That’s a pretty impressive resume of fun names to beat up on.
[0:34:48 – 0:34:51] Adam: The 12 and 13 seeds respectively there.
[0:34:53 – 0:34:54] Adam: Well done, OG Rapala.
[0:34:55 – 0:34:55] Erik: Yes.
[0:34:56 – 0:34:56] Erik: Moving down.
[0:34:57 – 0:35:01] Erik: The sixth seed, the Zara Spooks, going up against the three-seed Shad Raps.
[0:35:02 – 0:35:03] Erik: Another Rapala.
[0:35:03 – 0:35:04] Erik: Another Rapala.
[0:35:04 – 0:35:18] Erik: It seems like this tournament is turning into the Maps vs. Rapala tournament, as the Zara Spooks, as a sixth seed, do manage 13 votes, but go down quite handily to the three-seeded Shad Raps.
[0:35:18 – 0:35:19] Erik: 62-13.
[0:35:21 – 0:35:21] Erik: Shadraps move on.
[0:35:22 – 0:35:25] Erik: This is the chalkiest section of the bracket so far.
[0:35:25 – 0:35:32] Adam: Shadrap and jointed Shadrap are both through, along with Husky Jerk and the OG Rapala.
[0:35:32 – 0:35:34] Adam: That’s four Rapalas through already.
[0:35:34 – 0:35:36] Adam: We still have quite a few matchups to get to.
[0:35:37 – 0:35:38] Adam: We may be adding on to that total.
[0:35:38 – 0:35:39] Erik: We could be.
[0:35:39 – 0:35:46] Erik: Moving on to the last of the matchups in the Atacocan section of the bracket.
[0:35:46 – 0:35:54] Adam: I believe that before we scroll to this one, this is the popped, can’t get popped again, popper matchup, Jim.
[0:35:55 – 0:36:01] Adam: I believe that last week we both called the hula popper over the whopper popper.
[0:36:02 – 0:36:04] Erik: Whopper popper, not the plopper.
[0:36:04 – 0:36:06] Adam: They’re both popped.
[0:36:06 – 0:36:07] Adam: Okay.
[0:36:07 – 0:36:08] Adam: And you can’t stop.
[0:36:08 – 0:36:11] Adam: So for sure a popper will make it into the Sweet 16.
[0:36:11 – 0:36:12] Adam: Exactly, Jim.
[0:36:12 – 0:36:19] Adam: But I think we are both pretty confident that the 10 seed hula popper going up against the two seed whopper popper.
[0:36:20 – 0:36:21] Adam: I’m about to scroll.
[0:36:21 – 0:36:22] Adam: Drum roll, please.
[0:36:22 – 0:36:24] Adam: Oh, my God.
[0:36:24 – 0:36:26] Adam: The hula popper goes down badly.
[0:36:26 – 0:36:27] Adam: It’s been sunk.
[0:36:29 – 0:36:50] Adam: uh it’s been sunk and nobody’s rescuing these sailors they’re just there’s little sailors on this thing floating floating off into the distance and it’s burnt oh it’s burning badly the whopper popper is through number two seed whopper popper was was a darling of the uh subreddit committee uh thread fan favorite
[0:36:51 – 0:36:58] Adam: So shouldn’t be too surprised, but I felt that the hula popper was more fun to say than whopper popper.
[0:36:59 – 0:37:00] Adam: And isn’t this just the same lure?
[0:37:01 – 0:37:01] Adam: I guess it’s not.
[0:37:02 – 0:37:03] Adam: Apparently not.
[0:37:05 – 0:37:07] Adam: There’s only one proper way to pop, and it’s whopper.
[0:37:07 – 0:37:11] Adam: And it’s whopper style.
[0:37:11 – 0:37:15] Adam: 49 votes for the whopper popper and 27 fish for the hula popper.
[0:37:15 – 0:37:20] Adam: A lot of great top water action there and add a coke in the second round.
[0:37:20 – 0:37:21] Adam: Whopper poppers through.
[0:37:21 – 0:37:23] Adam: Going up against the shad wrap.
[0:37:23 – 0:37:25] Adam: That is a tough matchup.
[0:37:26 – 0:37:28] Adam: But two different styles, so those are fun, too.
[0:37:28 – 0:37:35] Adam: It’s fun when you see two poppers going off, but it’s also fun when a popper’s going against a deep dive and shad wrap like that.
[0:37:35 – 0:37:41] Adam: That’s completely unhinged, and it’s all going to come down to what the barometer is doing that day, I think.
[0:37:41 – 0:37:43] Erik: Yeah, barometer matters.
[0:37:44 – 0:37:48] Adam: That one, the barometer’s going to play heavily in this Sweet 16 matchup here in Atacocan.
[0:37:48 – 0:37:50] Adam: That’s for sure.
[0:37:50 – 0:37:51] Adam: Sure.
[0:37:52 – 0:37:53] Adam: Wind as well.
[0:37:53 – 0:37:58] Adam: That’s it for Atikok, and thank you for your hospitality to our friends from the north.
[0:37:59 – 0:38:00] Adam: We’re moving.
[0:38:01 – 0:38:07] Adam: All the way over to Cook, Minnesota for the final section of the bracket here in the east.
[0:38:08 – 0:38:13] Adam: We’re going to Northwoods Bait and Tackle in Cook, Minnesota.
[0:38:13 – 0:38:13] Adam: Of course.
[0:38:14 – 0:38:16] Adam: And they got a fine selection of lures.
[0:38:17 – 0:38:18] Adam: Always in stock.
[0:38:18 – 0:38:26] Erik: We’re going to see if we continue on with the tradition of the last of the number one seeds moving on.
[0:38:26 – 0:38:29] Adam: They’ll hook you up with a big old crate of lemons, too, when you’re in there.
[0:38:29 – 0:38:31] Adam: Any citrus needs you may have.
[0:38:31 – 0:38:33] Erik: Always be citrusing.
[0:38:34 – 0:38:36] Erik: Got the number one seed.
[0:38:37 – 0:38:43] Erik: Classic jig slash curly tail combo going up against the Wally Divers.
[0:38:44 – 0:38:47] Adam: What’s the difference between a curly and a twisty tail, Jim?
[0:38:47 – 0:38:48] Adam: I don’t think there is.
[0:38:48 – 0:38:49] Adam: It’s nomenclature.
[0:38:49 – 0:38:51] Adam: Regional is a regional thing, right?
[0:38:52 – 0:38:53] Adam: Yeah, it’s like soda and pop.
[0:38:54 – 0:38:54] Erik: Yeah.
[0:38:54 – 0:38:56] Erik: Bubbler and water fountain.
[0:38:56 – 0:38:56] Erik: Or coke.
[0:38:57 – 0:38:57] Adam: Exactly.
[0:38:57 – 0:39:00] Erik: Or dude, bro, man, and buddy.
[0:39:00 – 0:39:01] Erik: And pal.
[0:39:01 – 0:39:02] Erik: And amigo.
[0:39:02 – 0:39:03] Erik: And amigo.
[0:39:03 – 0:39:04] Adam: All right, Chief, take it easy.
[0:39:04 – 0:39:07] Erik: The fourth number one seed does, in fact, move on.
[0:39:10 – 0:39:12] Adam: Wally Diver bites it right into a reef.
[0:39:13 – 0:39:17] Erik: Compared to the rest of the teams left in this tournament, one of the more unique teams left.
[0:39:18 – 0:39:20] Erik: Yeah, they’re doing their own thing.
[0:39:20 – 0:39:22] Erik: It’s a good Boundary Waters lure in general.
[0:39:23 – 0:39:24] Adam: It’s a great lure in general.
[0:39:25 – 0:39:26] Adam: It’s a great lure.
[0:39:26 – 0:39:27] Adam: Good to fish out of a canoe, too.
[0:39:27 – 0:39:32] Adam: Let’s not forget the method that these lures will be placed.
[0:39:33 – 0:39:37] Adam: It’s going in by canoe, and you’re going to want to think about that when you’re voting, I would think.
[0:39:38 – 0:39:38] Erik: I would think so.
[0:39:38 – 0:39:42] Erik: 62 to 14, not really that close.
[0:39:45 – 0:39:50] Adam: Yeah, especially with the Sanko out and the Banjo Minnow going out last week.
[0:39:51 – 0:39:58] Adam: There’s not too many left in this kind of category here, so I see great things for the jig and tail combo.
[0:39:58 – 0:40:00] Erik: Yeah, glad to see.
[0:40:00 – 0:40:02] Adam: You can imagine it in any color in the rainbow, too.
[0:40:02 – 0:40:02] Adam: It’s amazing.
[0:40:03 – 0:40:06] Erik: I’m glad to see that they are moving on and representing their kind.
[0:40:11 – 0:40:16] Adam: They will be going up against the Stick O’ Dynamite.
[0:40:16 – 0:40:17] Adam: This is tough.
[0:40:17 – 0:40:19] Adam: Pew, pew, pew.
[0:40:19 – 0:40:25] Adam: It’s the most explosive matchup of the entire tournament, and it’s coming to you live from Cook, Minnesota.
[0:40:25 – 0:40:27] Adam: And it was a doozy.
[0:40:27 – 0:40:36] Adam: The number five seed head-on torpedo was not lubricated properly in the tubes, and the tubes were not flooded properly.
[0:40:36 – 0:40:46] Adam: The Stick of Dynamite did the trick as a 13 seed with 40 votes, taking out the Torpedo with just 36 votes.
[0:40:47 – 0:40:54] Adam: And Stick of Dynamite is through, and that is, I think, our lowest seed that’s going to get through here into the Sweet 16.
[0:40:54 – 0:41:00] Adam: That 13 seed is going up against the number one seed, Jig and Curlytail Cambo.
[0:41:02 – 0:41:04] Adam: Again, two very different approaches here.
[0:41:05 – 0:41:07] Adam: This one could go either direction.
[0:41:07 – 0:41:10] Erik: They’ve gotten through by the skin of their wicks.
[0:41:11 – 0:41:12] Erik: Back-to-back weeks, 40-36.
[0:41:12 – 0:41:14] Erik: 40-36 in the first and second round.
[0:41:17 – 0:41:22] Adam: Yeah, we’ve had nice dry and mostly sunny conditions with a little bit of wind out there.
[0:41:22 – 0:41:26] Adam: We did have that snow, but it didn’t come in during the games.
[0:41:27 – 0:41:29] Adam: And otherwise, there hasn’t been much for precipitation.
[0:41:29 – 0:41:34] Adam: If we get a wet one, if we get soaked, watch out because those wicks, they’re going to be moist.
[0:41:35 – 0:41:36] Erik: Yeah.
[0:41:36 – 0:41:40] Erik: Also, it could also just blow at any moment.
[0:41:40 – 0:41:44] Erik: Once dynamite gets wet like that, you never know what’s going to happen.
[0:41:44 – 0:41:45] Adam: Exactly, Jim.
[0:41:45 – 0:41:46] Erik: Exactly.
[0:41:46 – 0:41:49] Erik: Well, the meme team has moved on.
[0:41:49 – 0:41:54] Erik: 13 seed stick of dynamite is our only hope for a true Cinderella at this point.
[0:41:56 – 0:42:07] Adam: I believe that the tumble homies have spoken, and I feel that they’re going to be filled with explosive support going forward.
[0:42:07 – 0:42:10] Erik: Best of luck to the sticks or stick of dynamite.
[0:42:10 – 0:42:13] Erik: It’s just one member of the team.
[0:42:15 – 0:42:16] Erik: It’s all it takes, though.
[0:42:17 – 0:42:18] Adam: Just simmering on the bench.
[0:42:19 – 0:42:19] Adam: Simmering.
[0:42:20 – 0:42:22] Adam: Moving down to the six versus three.
[0:42:22 – 0:42:25] Adam: We have to polish up on our dynamite nomenclature going forward.
[0:42:25 – 0:42:27] Adam: Yeah, we can do that.
[0:42:27 – 0:42:38] Adam: We’ll probably have to read the Dynamite Wikipedia page just to see a little bit more about this team because we didn’t see it coming, clearly, and we got to do a little bit more research into this team.
[0:42:39 – 0:42:45] Erik: The introduction theme song is ACDC’s TNT in the beginning.
[0:42:45 – 0:42:46] Erik: It all makes sense.
[0:42:47 – 0:42:47] Erik: Moving down, though.
[0:42:47 – 0:42:56] Erik: Two more matchups to finish up this second round coverage of the Lurnament 2025 Six Seed Moss Boss.
[0:42:57 – 0:43:02] Erik: Heavy coverage lure going up against the Berkley Flicker Shad.
[0:43:04 – 0:43:05] Erik: And they do win.
[0:43:05 – 0:43:06] Erik: The three-seed Berkeleys move on.
[0:43:06 – 0:43:08] Erik: The Flickr Shads, 50-25.
[0:43:08 – 0:43:09] Erik: Absolute best value.
[0:43:09 – 0:43:14] Erik: Three-seed in to the Sweet 16.
[0:43:14 – 0:43:14] Erik: Congrats.
[0:43:15 – 0:43:17] Erik: Our third Shad lure through.
[0:43:17 – 0:43:18] Erik: Lots of Shads.
[0:43:18 – 0:43:21] Adam: The only Berkeley lure, though, I believe, to make it through.
[0:43:21 – 0:43:23] Adam: Choppo disappointed, but…
[0:43:23 – 0:43:27] Adam: The flicker shad has made Papa Berkeley very proud.
[0:43:27 – 0:43:39] Erik: Papa Berkeley is sitting at home in his Georgian mansion, just fluttering, shuffling wads of cash, like decks of cards, counting all of his monies.
[0:43:40 – 0:43:42] Adam: Stuffing a bunch of grapes into his pockets.
[0:43:42 – 0:43:45] Adam: As all of the flicker shad moves on.
[0:43:45 – 0:43:45] Adam: All right.
[0:43:46 – 0:43:46] Adam: We love it.
[0:43:46 – 0:43:50] Adam: And those are all also color schemes that the flicker shad comes in.
[0:43:51 – 0:43:51] Erik: Yeah.
[0:43:52 – 0:43:53] Adam: Fistful of cash is my favorite.
[0:43:53 – 0:43:54] Adam: Cash green?
[0:43:54 – 0:43:55] Adam: Yeah.
[0:43:55 – 0:43:56] Erik: That’s my favorite lure color as well.
[0:43:58 – 0:44:00] Adam: It’s the best one for all watercolor conditions.
[0:44:01 – 0:44:09] Adam: And the final matchup, it’s the Fred Arbogast Jitterbug, the seven seed, going up against another classic.
[0:44:09 – 0:44:10] Adam: It’s the Daredevil.
[0:44:11 – 0:44:17] Adam: And Jim has brought his upside-down crucifix over here and a floating haunted candle for this matchup.
[0:44:18 – 0:44:19] Adam: And we’re dimming the lights.
[0:44:20 – 0:44:22] Adam: And I’m scrolling, and we’re scared.
[0:44:23 – 0:44:27] Adam: But we don’t need to be scared, because the devil is our friend, Jim.
[0:44:27 – 0:44:41] Adam: 59 votes for the number two seed Daredevil, who spanked Dr. Juice’s helicopter lure into milky existence in round one, and has sent Fred Armisen and Fred Arbogast…
[0:44:41 – 0:44:42] Adam: Reeling.
[0:44:42 – 0:44:46] Adam: …looking for a new sheep farm with their jitterbug.
[0:44:46 – 0:44:47] Adam: 16, 15 votes for…
[0:44:50 – 0:44:51] Adam: They just couldn’t handle it.
[0:44:51 – 0:44:53] Adam: They couldn’t hang.
[0:44:54 – 0:44:58] Erik: The Daredevil has taken out two named lures.
[0:44:59 – 0:45:01] Erik: What are they going to do going up against the Flickershads?
[0:45:01 – 0:45:06] Erik: It’s not a face to punch or a face to put a dartboard behind and throw darts at on the wall.
[0:45:06 – 0:45:08] Adam: What about Dr. Wilbur Berkeley?
[0:45:09 – 0:45:10] Adam: Inventor of the Berkeley.
[0:45:11 – 0:45:12] Erik: I guess, yeah, you might be true.
[0:45:12 – 0:45:15] Erik: Dr. Wilbur Berkeley.
[0:45:15 – 0:45:17] Adam: He looks just like what you’d think he’d look like.
[0:45:17 – 0:45:19] Erik: Hey, they can pull up a picture of him.
[0:45:19 – 0:45:22] Adam: Whatever you’re thinking, that’s what Wilbur looks like.
[0:45:22 – 0:45:24] Adam: And he is a doctor of divinity.
[0:45:25 – 0:45:25] Erik: Wow.
[0:45:26 – 0:45:31] Erik: What an insane remaining four to jig curly tail combo going up against a stick of dynamite.
[0:45:32 – 0:45:35] Erik: Berkeley flicker shad going up against a daredevil.
[0:45:35 – 0:45:38] Adam: You got a little bit of everything going on over here in Cook, Minnesota.
[0:45:39 – 0:45:51] Adam: And although I don’t feel like this section of the bracket packs the same level of punch as our other three regions, this one, like I said, got a little bit of everything.
[0:45:51 – 0:45:53] Adam: This one’s the most uncertain for me.
[0:45:54 – 0:45:59] Adam: A lot of uncertainty when you’ve got a team wandering around with a lit stick of dynamite in the arena.
[0:46:00 – 0:46:02] Adam: It adds a different level of intensity.
[0:46:02 – 0:46:06] Adam: It’s almost like you’re suffocating in a tube underwater.
[0:46:09 – 0:46:11] Adam: Waiting for a fresh breath of oxygen.
[0:46:11 – 0:46:17] Adam: And a splash of seawater on the face.
[0:46:17 – 0:46:18] Adam: Smells good.
[0:46:19 – 0:46:24] Adam: I don’t know what to say about this one other than the jig and curly tail is looking pretty hot there.
[0:46:24 – 0:46:28] Adam: But I think the dynamite voters are locked in.
[0:46:28 – 0:46:32] Adam: And who’s to say how far that dynamite could go at this point?
[0:46:32 – 0:46:36] Adam: It’s all, as we’ve said earlier, about the moisture content of that wick.
[0:46:36 – 0:46:37] Adam: Can it hold out?
[0:46:38 – 0:46:39] Adam: Can they keep the wick dry?
[0:46:40 – 0:46:45] Adam: Maybe if they team up with that Haunted Candle from the Daredevil, that would be an interesting matchup.
[0:46:46 – 0:46:48] Adam: Daredevil versus a stick of dynamite.
[0:46:49 – 0:46:53] Adam: Haunted Candle versus a flammable and ignitable.
[0:46:54 – 0:46:55] Adam: That could be troubling.
[0:46:55 – 0:47:04] Adam: And the specter of Cook, Minnesota will forever remain in our memories here at the Learnament 2025.
[0:47:04 – 0:47:05] Adam: Hit the tash, baby.
[0:47:07 – 0:47:07] Adam: Get us out of here.
